American Indian Center Opens Art Gallery EVERYBODY WELCOME! Everybody Dance! Seven Decades of Chicago Powwow The American Indian Center is honored to present Everybody Dance! - a triumphant photography exhibition commemorating seven decades of Chicago intertribal powwows. The powwow is the centerpiece of contemporary intertribal Indian culture; it is how Native Americans honor traditional values and demonstrate cultural exchange. Everybody Dance! portrays a retrospective of Chicago powwows. This exhibit houses images that fuse contemporary media with the ancient practice of storytelling. Everybody Dance! is aimed at enhancing an unwritten culture, to provide first-voice insight to intertribal, urban, Native American customs. ____________________________________________ Photographers Orlando Cabanban Nora Moore Lloyd Beverly Moeser Warren Perlstein Christine Redcloud Jody Roy Other photographs provided by: American Indian Center Archives Louis Delgado Local presentation of this traveling exhibition is made possible through the generous support of the CHICAGO COMMUNITY TRUST Support is also provided by: Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events - City of Chicago Illinois Arts Council Chicago Cultural Alliance D'Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies at the Newberry Library
