Lurie Garden Workshop: Resistance Gardening by the AIC

The American Indian Center's Education Department will be presenting as part of Lurie Gardens Adult Workshop Series. Our workshop will focus on the recovery of the original land base of Illinois while preserving and restoring traditional practices of land management, community development, and rebuild cultural connections to the land.

The American Indian Center- Chicago strives to create a community of Indigenous growers who are dedicated to reclaiming Indigenous Growing Systems in an Urban setting through revitalizing harvesting and gardening traditions related to our ancestral food sovereignty and security. In this workshop we will make connections of how indigenous language, creation stories, and songs are used to educate and increase the capacity of the American Indian Community of Chicago and our allies.
